Dar Faras is a register of horses for sale, lease and stud in the United Arab Emirates. To run it we hold some information about the people who list horses and the people looking for them. This page says exactly what, exactly why, and how to get it removed.
Who we are
Dar Faras operates darfaras.com from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. For questions about anything on this page, or to exercise any of the rights below, write to hello@darfaras.com. A person reads it.
What we collect, and why
| If you | We hold | Because |
|---|---|---|
| List a horse | Your name, phone number and email address; the details and photographs you enter about the horse. | To review the listing, publish it, send you your register entry number and Seller Key, and let buyers contact you. |
| Ask us to look for a horse | Your email address, and any name, phone number or notes you choose to add. | To write to you when a matching horse is entered, and so a person can look for it by hand. |
| Save a search | Your email address and the search itself. | To email you new entries that match it. |
| Pay for a listing or a service | The amount, the date, what it was for, and a link to the receipt. Your card is entered on Stripe's secure page and never reaches our servers. | To know what has been paid for, refund it if a listing is declined, and show you your order history. |
| Just browse | A count of how many times each listing has been viewed, and a record that a contact button was tapped — which listing, which button, which page. No name, no account, no cross-site profile. | So we can tell sellers their horse is being seen, and so we know which parts of the site work. |
We do not ask for your identity documents. If you pay for a listing or a service, the payment is taken by Stripe, a regulated payment provider, on their page — we never see your card number. We are not part of the payment for a horse and never hold money between a buyer and a seller.
What is public
A published listing is public: the horse's details and photographs, the emirate, your display name and the phone number you gave for buyers to reach you. That is the point of a register. Your email address is never published — it is used for our mail to you and nothing else. What you tell us you are looking for is never published either.
Email you receive from us
If you list a horse we email you about that horse: that we have it, that it is entered and its entry number, your Seller Key, and later how it is doing and when it is worth renewing. If you asked us to look for a horse, we email you when one matches — and on no other day.
Every one of those emails carries an unsubscribe link that works in one click, and one click stops all of it. We do not sell, rent or share your address with anyone, and we do not send other people's advertising.
Cookies and what is stored on your device
- A sign-in cookie, set only if you sign in as a seller, so you stay signed in. Clearing it signs you out.
- Your favourites, saved searches and recently viewed horses are stored in your own browser and never reach our servers unless you attach an email address to a saved search yourself.
- Advertising measurement. When we are running advertising, the Meta pixel and the Google tag load on the site and set their own cookies. They record that a page was viewed and that an action happened — a requirement submitted, a listing submitted, a contact button tapped — so we can tell which advertising is worth paying for. We do not send them your name, your email address or your phone number. When we are not advertising, neither tag loads at all and neither cookie is set.
Who else sees it
Only the suppliers that make the site work: our hosting provider, our database provider, our email provider and, when you pay for something, our payment provider (Stripe). They process data on our instructions and for no purpose of their own. Their servers are outside the UAE, including in the United States and Europe, so your information is transferred and stored abroad. We do not sell your data to anyone, for any purpose, ever.
How long we keep it
- A register entry is permanent. The entry number and the fact that a horse was entered stay on record after the listing is sold or archived — a register that forgets is not a register.
- Your contact details stay while your account is open, and are deleted on request.
- Saved searches and requirements are deleted when you unsubscribe or ask.
Your rights
Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and object to us using it. Write to hello@darfaras.com and we will answer within thirty days. There is no charge and no form.
Deleting your contact details removes your listings from the register.
Children
Dar Faras is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we start collecting something new, this page changes before we collect it, and the date at the top changes with it.
