The Dar Faras trust system

Every claim is checkable, or it isn’t a claim.

Horses here sell for AED 4,000 to over a million — and until Dar Faras, they changed hands through Instagram DMs on trust alone. We adapted the verification playbook that fixed the UAE’s used-car market and rebuilt it on equine ground truth.

01

Papers checked against the registry

The UAE already has world-class equine ground truth: EAHS red passports, DNA parentage records, ISO microchips, ERA racing records. Sellers submit documents; our team matches passport, registration number and microchip against the registry before the badge is granted. Forged papers are the scam we kill first.

02

The horse itself is verified

Photos can be stolen; a horse cannot. Horse Verified means a physical check within the last 60 days — a geofenced visit or a seller video containing a unique code we issue — with the microchip scanned and matched to the papers on file.

03

Independent vets, chosen by the buyer

A pre-purchase exam ordered by the seller is marketing. One ordered by you is protection. Every listing declares whether the seller welcomes an independent exam, so you know before you travel — and a seller who has already commissioned one earns the dated Vet Checked badge. Commission yours from any UAE clinic you trust; the vet you engage reports to you.

04

Money never moves through us

Dar Faras takes no commission and never holds money between buyer and seller — you pay the seller directly, which means one rule is absolute: no seller-supplied payment links, ever. That is the dominant scam vector in this market. Dar Faras never sends payment links for purchasing a horse; listing fees and vet examinations are paid only through the official checkout on darfaras.com. Verify the horse and the papers in person before a dirham moves, and report any “escrow” link to report@darfaras.com.

The badge vocabulary

Two axes, fixed shapes and colors, everywhere: listing badges say what is verified about the horse; seller tiers say who you’re dealing with.

Trust, verification and safety — FAQs

How does Dar Faras verify a horse's papers?
Papers Checked means our team has matched the passport, registration number and microchip against the registry record before the badge is granted. The UAE already has world-class equine ground truth to check against: EAHS red passports, DNA parentage records, ISO microchips and ERA racing history. Forged papers are the scam we kill first.
What do the badges on a listing mean?
Dar Faras runs two badge systems on separate axes. Listing badges say what is verified about the horse: Papers Checked (documents matched to the registry), Horse Verified (physical check in the last 60 days), Vet Checked (independent exam on file, dated within 90 days) and Video (walk, trot and canter footage) — plus PPE Welcomed, Trial Available and X-rays, which record what the seller offers serious buyers. Seller tiers say who you are dealing with: Verified Seller (Emirates ID and phone), Verified Stable (UAE trade licence and premises) and Registered Breeder (studbook membership confirmed with the registry).
What does Horse Verified mean?
It means the physical horse was checked within the last 60 days, either through a geofenced visit or a seller video containing a unique code we issue, with the microchip scanned and matched to the papers on file. Photos can be stolen; a horse cannot. It is the badge that makes photo scams pointless.
What does "Listed — not inspected by Dar Faras" mean?
It means nothing on that listing has been independently verified yet; every claim is the seller's own. Treat it accordingly: view the horse in person, check the papers and microchip yourself, and book your own vet exam before paying anything. Verified listings carry badges precisely so you can tell the difference at a glance.
Does Dar Faras charge commission on sales?
Never on the sale. Dar Faras takes nothing when the horse sells, whether it goes for AED 4,000 or a million. What we charge for is the listing itself — the current fee, any free allowance and its end date are shown on the sell page and again before you pay — so our incentive is a safe deal, not a bigger price.
How do ratings work on Dar Faras?
Ratings are verified-deal only. After a confirmed sale, a one-time rating link is issued to the buyer, and only that link can leave a review, so a rating cannot be bought, faked or posted by someone who never transacted. If you completed a purchase and your link does not work, ask the seller to resend it.
How do I report a suspicious listing?
Every listing has a "Report it" link at the bottom of the page; it emails report@darfaras.com with the listing's reference number already filled in. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. If anyone sends you a payment or "escrow" link over WhatsApp, report the account immediately — Dar Faras never sends payment links, and neither should a seller.
